PROJECT PROPOSAL

This project is primarily an art project which improves user emotions and experiences.Our vision to enul the darkness not from the streets or say pathways of IIT but also to inspire and give company to people who take a stroll in campus at nights. Technology is something we humans have generalized in our lives as any other essential and unknowingly we are always surrounded with it. So, we are making a combination of nature & technology to give a glimmering experience to those who love.

Inspiration

While searching for different interactive art installations, we came across ‘Pulse & Bloom’, an interactive biofeedback installation by Samuel Clay.

20 interactive lotus flowers made out of steel and rowlux. Each lotus flower ranges from 8 to 18 feet tall, each of which lights up with your pulse. You and another person can put your hands on a couple of Hamsa hands at the base of the lotus flower and your respective heartbeats will light up the flower.

Conceptual Sketches

In north India, we celebrate different weathers with our vast cultural rituals, also, nature has its own perks of welcoming its seasonal arrival and one of that is flowering of palaash.

Flame of the Forest, Palaash, is one of the most beautiful and mythical tree from our motherland. Many legends have been created and celebrated after it’s leaves and flowers, a tree with such aura lights up in the jungle when the lush green darkness needs a little touch of Hermosa with the enigmatic flowers which we all love to admire.

It is also a sign of motivation. When whole jungle shed their leaves, palaash is at its full bloom. It is a symbol for high hopes and courage that blooms from within.

Function

The flower will bloom when someone will be around the its vicinity of radius of 1m, the proximity sensors will activate the circuit. Different combinations of lEDs and music will be played.

The simple rack and pinion mechanism is used to open and close the flower. An additional rotaional movement can be added to petals.
